How it works

Invite, contribute, reveal.

A Preserve is built from memories — one voice or many. Here's how it comes together.

The Contributor Experience

How Preserve helps someone see themselves
through the eyes of others.

Five quiet steps. From the moment you open a profile to the moment someone you love finds out what they meant to everyone around them.

Step 01

Invite

Start with the people who shaped them — or just yourself.

Invite as many people as you'd like — even if it's just you. Family, friends, mentors, former partners, students, the neighbor who remembered every birthday. One link each. No accounts. No pressure.

Step 02

Guided prompts

Questions that make the words come easy.

Each contributor gets a small, private set of prompts — written to surface the specific things people otherwise leave unsaid.

From Sarah · for Diane

A few quiet questions

There’s no wrong answer.
Just yours.

  • 01What's a lesson she taught you — even without meaning to?
  • 02Describe a moment with her you've never forgotten.
  • 03If you had to choose three words for her, what would they be?
  • 04What's something you'd want her to know, while she can still hear it?

Question 02 of 04

Describe a moment with her you’ve never forgotten.

The summer I turned seven, I broke a porcelain bird she’d had since she was a girl. I hid the pieces under the couch. She found them, sat me down, and said, “Things break, sweet pea. People don’t have to.” I’ve repeated that line to my own kids more times than I can count.

Step 03

Progress

Watch the Preserve fill in.

See who's contributed, who's mid-thought, and who needs a gentle nudge. The owner sees the count — never the contents — until the reveal.

Step 04

Countdown

A moment, not a notification.

Set a date. Preserve quietly composes everything into one Impact Reveal — held back until they're ready to watch.

The Impact Reveal

On Sunday, Diane will see
what she meant to all of them.

18 people invited. 12 have shared so far. Preserve is gently collecting their words and weaving them into one Preserve.

Step 05

The reveal

What it feels like to be truly seen.

A cinematic, collaborative Preserve of who they are to the people around them. The kind of thing most people rarely get to hear about themselves.

The reveal · for Diane’s eyes

Here is what 18 people
wanted you to know.
